We are pleased to announce that a new global portal for Progressive Christianity is just around the corner! In early 2012, ProgressiveChristianity.org will have a brand new website. The new ProgressiveChristianity.org will be socially interactive, full of new resources and liturgy, and globally connecting.

Global Ministries University has launched a number of programs that include the latest information related to the New Testament and the historical Jesus.  Progressive Christians have the opportunity to earn a Doctor of Theology, Master of Theology, or certificate with a concentration in contemporary Christianity. 

There is still time to celebrate!  May 1, 2011 was Pluralism Sunday, but you can celebrate Pluralism Sunday any day of the year. We invite all of you to get involved in this special event.

For Harvard Divinity School professor Matthew Myer Boulton, the musical experiment known as “Butterflyfish” – whose debut album, “Ladybug,” was hailed as “the ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ for all ages” – has taken another delightful turn with its follow-up record, “Great and Small.”  And this time, the project was inspired by an ancient Jewish tale.

 THY WILL BE DONE follows Male-to-Female Transsexual Sara Herwig in her path to ordination in the Presbyterian Church.  Efforts have been made to block her ordination by the evangelical conservative groups who don’t recognize her as female and question her fitness to be a Pastor…..

WASHINGTON – April 26 – The Bishops and Elders Council of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, which is convening this week in Washington, D.C., will hold a noontime vigil, Tuesday, April 27, to support Ugandan lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. Uganda is considering the proposed “Anti-Homosexuality Bill,” which would make homosexuality punishable by life imprisonment or even death. Leaders from across the world have expressed outrage at this measure. There has been criticism of some U.S. evangelicals, such as anti-LGBT and anti-abortion extremist Lou Engle of The Call Ministries, who are accused of exporting homophobia to Uganda. Engle is slated to go to Uganda on May 2 for The Call Uganda, a mass evangelical stadium rally.?

Survival has now opened a US office in order to reach the many US individuals interested in and supportive of tribal peoples and the many contemporary issues that they face. The Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary is announcing a Call for Papers for the 2010 Colloquium, “Allegorical Bible 2.0: Scholarship meets Allegory, Code, and Mysticism.”  The Colloquium will be held at the Universal Truth Center, Miami Gardens, Florida, May 20-22, 2010.

ATLANTA, Decembe 2009 – Gifted students across the U.S. and Canada who aspire to be pastoral leaders and professors can get help for their journeys through Fund for Theological Education (FTE) fellowships for the 2010-2011 academic year.  Right now, college students are finishing up their finals and looking forward to a few weeks of rest during the Christmas break. Many of them will use that time to reflect on what their futures will hold. Some may consider the corporate world; others may worry about further education options.
