Who is our neighbor? That’s the question:
Who is this person we’re to love?
The one across the street? Or next door?
Or in the apartment up above?
For the freedom of the air
that absorbs the smoke of hand-rolled cigs
When we pray
come, Lord Jesus
Do we mean to say
come, you malnourished stranger
When beauty casts its glow,
When children play in snow
I softly shout for joy!
As we leave worship, let us together commit ourselves:
- to give thanks each day for the abundant gift and beauty of life
O golden doors now open wide
Revealing myst’ry’s grace,
The grace beyond the imaged word;
Beyond all time and space.
This body knows what it is like to have a nice house and a good job
It knows what it is like to feel uneasy about being wealthy
Hungry for meaning?
Thirsty for purpose?
Leader: Blessed be God, the Source of all Being.
People: Blessed be God, the Breath of the Universe, the Wisdom behind Nature and the Scriptures.
Leader: Blessed be God, the Way of Reconciliation and Healing.
Beyond the boxes we create,
Beyond each image we can spawn
The process river flows along
To sweep aside the now outworn.
This, my song, a skeptic’s hymn,
ode to mystery within,
Sung to you no one can prove,
dwelling there, as real as love.
It was a long and complicated evolution
