Many progressive Christian communities have stopped saying the traditional creeds together, because they no longer represent what the congregants believe to be true.  But that raises the question: what do we believe, if not the traditional creeds?  Many churches are finding new words to express their common understandings, and by doing so can then revive the ancient practice of sharing aloud a common statement, as a testimony of faith rather than a test.

A Statement of Faith

There is only one God who is at all times everywhere in creation. Every man, woman and child is a child of God: we all belong to his family. We therefore say God loves us as a parent loves the offspring.
