About the Author: Rev. Greg Brown

Fr. Greg Brown was born in and raised in Southwest Michigan and attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Biology as well as his secondary teaching certification. He taught high school science in Central Florida and East Grand Rapids, Michigan, for eight years before the call to seminary. He began seminary at St. Andrew’s Anglican Seminary in Mexico City, and finished at General Seminary in New York. Fr. Greg’s previous calls include Trinity Church in Grand Ledge and Emmanuel Church in Petoskey, both in Western Michigan. He loves to travel and spend time with family. He has a passion for soccer, and has spent 25 years as a soccer referee in his spare time. His wife Cathy Brown is an Alumnus of Alma college where she studied Spanish and travelled abroad, and Spring Arbor College with her Masters degree in School Counseling. Cathy is an elementary school counselor for CMS. Greg and Cathy have three daughters: Lara, a passionate equestrian and junior at Myers Park High School; Jenna, a sophomore at Michigan State University studying Nursing; and Taylor, a senior at Northwestern University studying Biomedical Engineering. The whole family has enjoyed taking part in mission work, be it local, regional, or international.

    Now concerning the wearing of masks, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that in the time before Covid, we were enticed and led astray thinking that we were not responsible for one another's health. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the spirit of love ever says 'masks be cursed!'; and no one can say 'masks are a really good idea for everybody!’ except through a spirit of love.
