Advent and the Birth of the Word within us

In this special Advent workshop, by School of Contemplative Life we’ll reflect on the birth of God’s Word as the birth of loving-awareness within us.
About this event

“We read in Holy Scripture that a child is born to us, and a Son is given to us, which is to say…He is begotten in us always, without ceasing.” Johannes Tauler O.P.

The season of Advent doesn’t simply point us towards an extraordinary event that happened 2000 years ago. We are invited to turn to what is happening right now, within each of us and all creation.

In this special Advent workshop, we’ll reflect on the birth of God’s Word as the birth of loving-awareness and how meditation (contemplative prayer) can help prepare the ground for this birth.

Through a series of short talks, meditation practice and conversation we’ll explore:

• How the practice of meditation helps prepare the ground for the birth of loving-awareness

• Manifesting this birth in compassion: living in ever-deepening relationship with each other and the whole of creation.

Ultimately, meditation is about relationship. It’s the quiet, steady work of being here, fully present for the gift of our life. Which means it’s also the quiet, steady work of being present with and for those around us. Because all that we have, all that we are, is born in and from relationship.
