Virtual Advent Retreat

Nativity Stories

November 22 – December 22

a Virtual Advent Retreat with Rev. Chris Glaser

Perhaps no story in the Bible is so dear to Christians as the story of Jesus’ nativity. The mystery of God coming into the world as a vulnerable baby, born to an unwed mother in a cow shed, draws more people than usual to churches at that time of year.

There will be one live webinar session to kick off the retreat on Saturday, November 22 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm US Eastern Time (7:00 – 8:30 pm GMT/UTC). Then, the four following Mondays (December 1, 8, 15, and 22), an email reflection and questions will be sent to you. There will be one concluding video during Christmas that you can watch at your convenience.

Where do we find ourselves in the story? How does the nativity speak to us? What is God saying to the world?

And what about our own “nativity stories,” the stories of our own births into this world, as well as our spiritual re-births? And isn’t “coming out” also a kind of nativity?

Through brief weekly readings and suggested questions, you will be invited to explore the story of the Nativity to enhance your own Advent and Christmas season.

Led by MCC minister and blogger, the Rev. Chris Glaser, author of twelve books, including an Advent through Easter daily meditation book, Reformation of the Heart. Find out more about Chris through his website and blogsite.
