Love Stays, Everything Else Fades

Bittersweet

bitter

sweet

pain is

plain

and now

it is becoming

more apparent

than ever

the tragedy

of our love

we had hope

but it fades

and now

sadness grows

what used to be the

spark of what could

or might be

has flickered out

and now

the resignation of

what remains

of what is left

and time continues

its acceleration

the tragedy builds

and the love grows

lumps in the throat

beyond this

we are two inmates

who’ve found each other

in this cell

and love and won’t live to tell

much longer

cause time marches on

and not long

we will be gone

from the world

for good

forever

but

we can at least try

to strive to make

the connection last

an eternity

and that is the reason

we worship You.
