Profession of Faith

The creed we use at Abby of the Way in Arizona

We are not alone; we live in God’s world.
We believe in God: who has created and is creating,
who works in others and us through the Spirit.
We trust in the Creator.
We are called to be,
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and to resist injustice,
to seek out models for hope and peace.
In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.
We are not alone.

Nice reworking of the Statement of Faith of the United Church of Canada (#883 The United Methodist Hymnal).
ALL: We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
    ALL: We believe in God:
ALL: Who has created and is creating,
ALL: Who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
ALL: To reconcile and make new,
ALL: Who works in us and others by the Spirit.
    ALL: We trust in God.
ALL: We are called to be the church:
    ALL: To celebrate God’s presence,
ALL: To love and serve others,
ALL: To seek justice and resist evil,
ALL: To proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
ALL: Our judge and our hope.
ALL: In life, in death, in life beyond death,
    ALL: God is with us.
    ALL: We are not alone.
ALL: Thanks be to God. Amen.

I like this Creed, but I question your use of Spirit. God is a Spirit. Why do we need to address him more than “God?” I prefer Jesus as older brother, one whose example is right for me, but we are all God’s offspring, God’s children as Jesus was. To me he was fully human.
