The Song of Namaan’s Servant

2 Kings 5

Bathe in muddy Jordan

Seven times to make you whole

Swim in muddy water

Seven times to save your soul

If he asked for mighty wonders

You would yield to save your pride

But he gives a simple order

And you turn his word aside

In the line to John’s baptism

Stands the prince of all the earth

Not afraid of dirty water

Not ashamed of humble birth

Drop your heavy armor

Shed your leather clothes

Step into the river

Your nakedness he knows

Swim the muddy river

Join the human throng

Cross the final border

To the place where you belong
