Autumn
Autumn… harvest… Indian summer… waiting for the rains… So many images of this time of year, of abundance that need to be stored up against the winter months, of trees beginning to turn, of the last warm days before the cold. (Apologies to our southern hemisphere friends, whose images are just the reverse!) Autumn is a season of life as well, of in-gathering and reflection and celebration. “Autumn’s the mellow time,” the poet said.
