Remembering Them

Every time we lose someone we love, someone who inspired us and now has left us to carry on without them, someone whose presence was a part of our daily happiness, we must re-map our world.  We make the transition from a relationship with their physical being to a new relationship with their spirit, however we choose to interpret that.  Old words are often the most comforting: Psalm 23 is probably included in more memorial services than any other single piece of scripture.  And somehow it doesn’t matter if the pronouns are progressive; it matters that the words are as we remember them.  Time and again, death calls us back to the fundamentals, that Love is what matters most at the beginning of life and Love is what matters most at the end.
