      Mission
Plymouth United Church was created in 1978 to serve the Spring, Texas community. Spring is a suburb of Houston, Texas. The founding members of the church were primarily Congregationalists (one of the original denominational strands of the UCC) from the New England area who moved to Houston because of their jobs in the oil and gas industry. In the 1980s, the oil bust hit Houston and brought immense devastation to the area. Plymouth was one of many churches affected by the oil bust. Some members retired and moved back to New England while new native Texan members joined the Plymouth community.

In December 2004, the UCC nationally aired a commercial publicizing the extravagant welcome of the UCC stating that all people are welcome in the UCC. Plymouth benefited tremendously from the commercial as new members have joined the church. There is a rich diversity and beauty to the Plymouth community which mirrors God's reflection here. In 2006, Plymouth voted to become Open and Affirming (ONA), which means that we welcome all people regardless of their ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities, and place in life. Plymouth is proud to be 1 of 5 ONA UCC churches in the Houston Association.

From its birth, Plymouth has been a faith community committed to serving its neighbors in Spring, Texas. We are one of the founding congregations of the Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM), and have offered leadership in its programs such as the food pantry, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and the NAM garden. We are also active participants in the Spring area Interfaith Dialogues with other faith traditions.

In a culture in which size equals importance, Plymouth United Church offers an alternative to that belief. We are a smaller church community that is blessed with a large heart in which we love one another. If you are looking for a church community where you will be known and loved for the wonderful person God created you to be, then we invite you to visit Plymouth United Church!

Our members, adults and youth, are encouraged to participate in our Worship Services, and many take on active roles in various teams such as Christian Education, Facilities, Missions and Outreach, and Worship. We enjoy fellowship together after Worship each Sunday with snacks and lively conversation. Sunday School for adults is at 9:15 a.m. with Rev. Ginny Brown Daniel. Nursery services are provided year-round. Other events include "Super Fun Sunday" when we get together for fun times such as roller skating, bowling, picnics, etc. The church also hosts an annual family camping trip to the Slumber Falls campground in New Braunfels, Texas, which is owned by the South Central Conference of the UCC. Our children and youth are also afforded the opportunity to participate in summer camp at Slumber Falls.
      Description
The 4 Distinctive Voices at Plymouth United Church are: Progressive Theology, Contemplative Spirituality,
      LGBT Acceptance, and Social Justice.

Progressive Theology: As Jesus opened his understanding of God in thought and experience, so do we!
Contemplative Spirituality: As Jesus set aside time to be still and listen for God, so do we!
LGBT Acceptance: As Jesus accepted those who were shunned in his society, so do we!
Social Justice: As Jesus spoke against his culture’s domination system and advocated for the equality of all, so do we!

We celebrate that everyone deserves a house of God to call their own and to perceive the voice of God at every gathering. We value the opportunity to question our beliefs and to seek the presence of God in our daily lives. We strive to be an extravagant voice for love and acceptance and to enrich and serve our wider community.
