About the Author: Richard Gist

Richard Gist, author of the award-winning books Ayshush on the Inside (a children’s book) and You Don’t Understand the Bible Because You are Christian, is a product of a prairie town in southwest Minnesota (Pipestone), and still lives in that State. In 1952, following graduation from high school, he entered military service, serving in Air Force Special Intelligence as a Russian Language Specialist. His preparation for that included a year of intensive study at the University of Syracuse. His credentials also include a BA from Westmar College in Lemars, Iowa, and a Masters of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton Ohio. While at UTS he won the 1969 National Award for Historical Research. He also holds a Masters Degree in English Literature from the University of Minnesota, and is a certified gestalt therapist. Over a period of thirty years Richard served as pastor of three Minnesota parishes. He currently teaches an adult Sunday School class and speaks before various groups, most always on biblical subjects. He and wife Norma are in their seventh decade of marriage, and peacefully live in Princeton Minnesota.
