The Power of Nonviolence
Hope-giving Stories from Public Radio
Dear Listener,
As we approach Martin Luther King Day – our annual time to honor the tradition of nonviolent social change – I wanted to let you know that our full Humankind public radio series on this theme is now available free online.
All eight half-hours of our recently completed project, The Power of Nonviolence, can be downloaded through our Humankind on Public Radio podcast, which you can subscribe to free at iTunes and Stitcher.
And you’ll find detailed descriptions of those programs, which are also being broadcast this month on many public radio stations and on the NPR SiriusXM channel.
Our world now feels perilously unstable and unpredictable. These moving documentaries explore themes that can ground us in the ways of conflict resolution.
You’ll hear the stories of how the Mother Emanuel Church families in S. Carolina chose love over revenge. How prisoners in California cultivate compassion practice. How kids from opposing sides in the Middle East become friends at a summer camp in Maine. How Iraq and Afghanistan veterans begin their journey of healing from trauma.
In a time when many of us are feeling wounded and worried, I hope you’ll find time to listen and reflect on these hope-giving stories. Let us know what you think!
Best wishes,
David Freudberg
Executive Producer
