Q&A With Dr. Karl Krieg
The entire existence of Jesus is therefore based on a Jewish legend developed by Jewish preachers. Am I missing something?
Q&A With Rev. Irene Monroe
Do progressives believe in the resurrection? Sometimes, without hope in my sins being forgiven, I don't think I could have emotionally coped.
Q&A With Bishop John Shelby Spong
What do we mean by the word “faith?” People, who would dismiss us as anti-intellectual, ridicule faith with the presumption that it means believing in things that are hard to believe in or believing in things that are contrary to known facts.
Q&A WIth Rev. Dr. Robin Meyers
Growing up and attending a southern Baptist church, I was constantly aware of the term salvation. I am now, thankfully, attending a more progressive and open minded church (PCUSA), but still hear this word. I have never been comfortable with this term and would like to know how you see salvation and what it actually means in progressive Christianity.
Q&A with Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox
How can Christians get a firm foundation with scripture that has been influenced by the spirit of political influence by Kings and Popes and transcriptionists who were influenced by governments? A bit of a crisis of faith here. Can there still be a Divine Jesus without true historical knowledge of Him?
Q&A with Toni Reynolds
What have we learned and can apply today from the Nag Hammadi Scriptures?
Q&A with Rev Irene Monroe
If Jesus did not die on a cross to cover our sin, then what was the purpose of him dying? What was the purpose of his life? Was it to show us how to simply be "good people?"
Why follow Jesus and worship him if you don't believe all of scripture?
What is it about the Temple Mount? It seems to always be the flashpoint of conflict in Jerusalem.
Am I the only one out here who makes sure my people understand the Eucharist/Lord’s Supper/Communion service has its roots in the Passover story and that the words Jesus spoke would have been the motzi and the hagafen?
How important and relevant is the Gospel of Thomas in our continuing search for the real Jesus? How does it help us to interpret his message and mission?
I find the notion of human sacrifice abhorrent, and yet the whole dogma of the church is based on the crucifixion of Jesus. The cross wasn’t even used as a symbol for a hundred years AD, and yet we have it used in church today. How do I cope?
I embrace today's "new age spirituality" where Mind, Body and Spirit are aligned under a new paradigm of oneness with all - that no longer supports the dogma of traditional religious institutions. My question is whether there is still room for my bible from which I have found so much comfort and wisdom?
John 8:44 has always been problematic for me. For example, in 8:44 Jesus tells the Jews who don't believe in him that they are children of the devil. What is the Progressive commentary on this passage?
In looking at how the Jews see the Adam and Eve story – that it was a story of taking responsibility and moving out of innocence etc. How does this reconcile however with Paul ( a Jew) in Romans Ch5 where he appears to take on a more traditional even literal approach with Adam and Sin entering in , The Fall etc. ?
Jesus asked a lot of questions. Ask questions like, was Jesus a Christian? If you read through the Bible thoroughly and the Gospels a few times, what do you notice really mattered to Jesus? How did he live his life? What was his view of money? His relationship to power and privilege?
