UN International Day of Peace inspires 2017 Global Peace Song Awards to announce contest Winners

 
Latin Popstar Maria Conchita Alonso, Stewart Copeland of the Police, Heroes TV producer Tim Kring, politician Dennis Kucinich, Country Grammy winner Gary Nicholson, actor Sean Stone and folk legend Peter Yarrow serve as famed Jury Members.

The Global Peace Song Awards (GPSA), brainchild of Los Angeles based ProjectPeaceOnEarth.org Founder/CEO Steve Robertson, is thought to be the first-ever annual worldwide search for the most spiritually inspiring songs and music videos that promote the message of peace.

Famed 2017 Jury Panel members of the GPSA contest consisted of: Maria Conchita Alonso (Mulit-platinum Latin singer), Stewart Copeland (Grammy Winner, The Police), Randy Copus (New Age group 2002), Jonathan Elias (Elias Arts/The Prayer Cycle albums), Peter Joseph (musician and Director of the Zeitgeist Movie series), David Joyce (Grammy Winner best Jazz Vocal group), Ricky Kej (2014 New Age Grammy winner), Tim Kring (TV producer Touch & Heroes), Dennis Kucinich (former US Representative / US Department of Peace), Gary Nicholson (Grammy Winner & Texas Hall of Fame Country Singer/Songwriter), Steve Robertson (Founder, ProjectPeaceOnEarth.org), Joanne Shenandoah (Grammy winning Native American Singer/Song Writer), Ralph Simon (Mobile business executive, co-founder of Zomba Group and Jive Records), Sean Stone (Actor and Director) and Peter Yarrow (legendary Folk Singer & Peace Activist of Peter, Paul & Mary).

The 2017 GPSA contest offers several different categories of music for contestants: New Age, World Music, Acoustic Contemporary, Country and Folk, Classical/Opera/ A Cappella, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock / Pop and a Music Video category.

All Contestants have three ways to win: 1) Famed Jury Panel members vote on songs / videos from areas of entertainment they’re most known. 2) Public Voting enables each of the category finalists to invite the public to vote on their songs or videos. 3) …And the last way to win is through social media by having a song or music video with most overall Facebook likes and/or reaches.

Winners of each JURY VOTED music category have a chance to win a wide variety of valued career enhancing prizes that range from: Stefan Hegar of Fisheye Music Studios providing a one song mastering service for each category winner, award winning singers/musicians who will perform on winners next songs, album cover art work by world-famed artist/designers Syamarani Dasi and Greg Spalenka, a webinar tutorial on the “Music Contracts Do’s and Don’ts” by leading entertainment attorney Burgundy Morgan esq., an invitation to perform at an upcoming Project Peace On Earth worldwide concert, a commemorative trophy (all winners) and much more. There was one overall GRAND PRIZE with the added prizes of a full radio interview and press release with media promotion from Shayne Locke of Soul Traveller Radio, and most importantly, a Producing/Recording session with 5-Time Grammy Winning music engineer Alfonso Rodenas which is valued at over $15,000. All of the GPSA prizes were designed to empower the winning musicians to further their creative talents, music careers and the financial ability to succeed in the world of music and entertainment.

Therefore, it is with great pleasure that we announce the 2017 GPSA WINNERS:

NEW AGE MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Her Departure and her song “Awake”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the NEW AGE category is: SEAY and her song “We Are One”.

ACOUSTIC / CONTEMPORARY MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Stefan Crane and his song “Looking for Love”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the ACOUSTIC/ CONTEMPORARY category is: Diane Durrett & Melissa Junebug and their song “The River Sings”.

WORLD MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Priya Deepika and her song “Hear In My Heart”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the WORLD MUSIC category is: Dan Aykroyd, Alan White, Rupam Sarmah, Ruth Weber, Alexander Kariotis, The Disciple Singers and their song “Enlighten Your Soul”.

FOLK MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Shawn Gallaway and his song “I Choose Love”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the FOLK MUSIC category is: Her Departure and her song “Act of God”.

COUNTRY MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Lonnie Park and his song “Link of Chain”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the COUNTRY MUSIC category is Diane Durrett and her song “Be Somebody’s Angel”.

CLASSICAL, OPERA, A CAPPELLA MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Shoshana Michel and her song “When Leaves Dance”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in CLASSICAL, OPERA, A CAPPELLA MUSIC category is: Fadi Awad and his song “We Are Here”.

JAZZ MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: Darren English and his song “Pledge for Peace”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the JAZZ category is: Babel and the group’s song “Vacío”.

HIP HOP MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is: BrainPower and the group’s song “All The Same” (featuring Orange Grove). The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the HIP HOP category is: Roman Lee Norfleet and his song “The Cycle”.

ROCK / POP MUSIC: The JURY VOTED winner is tie between: Kristen Speller and her song “Phoenix Rising Up” and Bob Sima and his song “The Movers, The Shakers & the Peacemakers”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the ROCK / POP category is: Nicki Kris and her song “Together We Stand”.

MUSIC VIDEO: The JURY VOTED winner is: Jennifer Thomas and her music video “Alleluia”. The PUBLIC VOTING winner in the MUSIC VIDEO category is: Melissa Junebug & Calvin Burgamy and their music video “The River Sings.”

SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook winner with most “likes” is: SEAY and her song “We Are One”. The Facebook winner with the most “reaches” is: Babel and the group’s song “Vacío”.

THE OVERALL GRAND PRIZE WINNER of the Global Peace Song Awards is: Her Departure for her songs “Awake” and “Act of God”.

Robertson further states; “We are so appreciative of each person who participated and contributed a song or music video. Whether they were voted as one of our winners or not, its important that everyone understands that their creativity and intent to promote love and peace really does makes a difference in our world. Again, we thank each contestant and all of the Winners for their inspiring music and videos.
